Age requirements for PMA LC

  • Intermediate or equivalent (Age: 17-22 years – three months relaxation).
  • Graduates with 4-year programs (age: 17-24 years - no relaxation).
  • Graduation program (BS/BA-(HON)/BBA/BPA), Graduates (2 years graduation) and serving PN/PAF personnel. (Age: 17-23 Years – Three Months Relaxation).
  • Army Soldier Service Requirements (Age: 17-25 Years - No Relaxation)

Eligibility Criteria for Joining PMA Course

Follow the given eligibility criteria to join Pak Army 153 PMA Long Course:

 

  • Citizens of Pakistan and Domicile Holders of Azad Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan can apply for PMA Long Course.
  • Only male candidates can apply.
  • Height should be 5’-4″ (162.5 cm) and weight according to Body Mass Index.
  • Candidates who secure minimum 55% marks in Intermediate (FA/FSC) or its equivalent.
  • Graduates who secure 60% or more marks with 50% marks in FA/FSC can apply.
  • Serving soldiers can also apply if they have passed FA/FSC or equivalent with 50% marks.
  • Candidate must be mentally and physically fit.
  • Candidate must be medically fit.

Certificate of Hope

If a student has passed Part I of Intermediate with at least 60% marks and intends to appear for Part II/Final Examination, a Hope Certificate may be issued by the Head of the Institution.

 

Attestation of marks sheet/certificate

Candidates who do not have certificates from Matric, Intermediate, BA/BSc courses or have duplicate/revised mark sheets/certificates have to obtain a verification certificate from the concerned Board/University Secretary/Controller of Examination.

 

Candidates applying in Pakistan with 60% aggregate marks are eligible for admission to PMA Long Course without the requirement of equivalent certificate. Candidates with less than three Cs in A-level or equivalent examinations from abroad or Pakistan must submit an equivalency certificate issued by the Inter-Board of Chairman Committee (IBC).

Note

If a TCC candidate applies for the PMA Long Course and has passed the ISSB, he is also considered a repeater, regardless of the results.

Repeaters should report to Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs) for preliminary examinations between 22 November 2023 to 19 January 2024.

Pak Army Selection Process of PMALC

To join PMA Long Course you have to go through the following selection process:

 

Registration process

There are two steps for registration. Either register online or visit your nearest Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs).

 

Once you complete the registration process, they will inform you about the next entrance test schedule, which will be held at your chosen ASRC.

 

Preliminary test

The preliminary test includes verbal, non-verbal, and general knowledge sections. Once you pass the test, you will be asked to undergo a physical examination.

All events must be cleared for each candidate. After passing all the physical tests, you will be called for a medical test.

Early Medical

Candidates will undergo preliminary medical checkup. If your tests are cleared, you will be issued an ISSB form.

Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB)

Selected candidates will undergo the ISSB test where they will be tested mentally and physically for 5 days.

 

Final Medical

This is the final process of selecting the candidates who will undergo the final medical examination.

The interview

Final interview for candidates who clear written, medical and physical tests will be conducted by S&ROs (instead of a brigade by formation) and a psychologist. Each candidate should write a 10 line essay in English and Urdu before the interview.

 

Candidates will receive simple paper before interview for English and Urdu subjects. There will be a board in the examination hall/room displaying the topic of the day. All candidates appearing for the interview will be prompted by S&RO. It is not possible for a candidate to get the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) form if he scores less than 12 points.

 

Each candidate will be marked out of 20. The following guidelines are provided for conducting the interview:


  • Confidence and expression.
  • A good understanding of the current situation is essential.
  • Good understanding of Geo and Pakistan Studies.
  • Overall outlook.
  • Active extracurricular activities, including hobbies and sports.
  • Other matters considered relevant by the panel.

Ensure that all AS&RCs record each candidate's interview through CCTV and share these recordings on weekly CDs with the PA DTE.

In the final selection, the candidate will be selected on the basis of his performance and merit at the General Headquarters (GHQ). Candidates will be notified via email after 5 days of their PMA Long Course selection.

Additional information

A candidate from abroad is not required to participate in the preliminary selection. Attachments from the Department of Defense will ascertain the candidate's overall fitness as well as their stunting and physical impairment. Candidates should contact Pakistani Embassies (Military/Defence Attaché) in their country for application form.


Candidates have to submit their applications for PMA Long Course along with necessary documents through Pakistani Embassies by 26 January 2024. Applications should also mention Pakistani postal address so that call-up notices and correspondence for ISSB test/interview can be sent to Pakistani addresses of candidates. It is not possible to claim any travel allowance for travel to or from Pakistan.

Note: Candidates who are not selected for the current admission but fulfill the eligibility requirements for PMA Long Course admission will be considered for the next admission.

 

Required Documents

  • Matric/FA/FSC/Equivalent Certificates/Marks Sheets.
  • Computerized National Identity Card if the applicant is 18 years or above. If the applicant is below 18 years of age, computerized form B of parent or guardian along with computerized identity card.
  • One set of attested copies of the above documents.
  • 3 passport size color photographs (front and back) attested by Principal/Class-1 Gazetted Officer.
  • "Repeat candidates" also require an original and a photocopy of the "Not Recommended" letters from the Inter-Services Selection Boards (ISSBs).

Conditions of disqualification

  • Rejected twice by Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB).
  • Failure to pass the preliminary test (int/academic) will disqualify you for future PMA long course.
  • Screened twice by Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB).
  • If exempted by the competent authority, the test should be taken within four months (120 days) of the candidate's previous appearance before the Inter-Service Selection Board (ISSB).
  • A person who has been dismissed, removed, or suspended from government service or the armed forces.
  • Any heinous crime convicted in a court of law (to be determined by competent military authority).
  • The Appellate Medical Board has permanently declared the patient as UNFIT (PUF by the AMB). Any armed forces hospital has disqualified him, except those cleared by the Appellate Medical Board. When medically unfit to fly, Pakistan Air Force candidates can undergo routine medical examinations like normal candidates if they want to join any other branch of the armed forces.
  • Due to hepatitis B and C, declared medically ineligible (unable to apply for AMB).
  • Candidates cannot apply for PMA Long Course if dismissed from a bonded Armed Forces Institution/College.
  • Withdrawal, discharge, resignation, or purchase of commission from an academy or training institution of the Armed Forces.
  • Any applicant who tampers with, falsifies or conceals educational certificates to gain unfair advantage will be permanently disqualified for any commission in the armed forces.
  • A candidate found positive for drugs in CMHs, Military Hospitals, or AFIP will be permanently ineligible to join PMA Long Course or Training Institutions.

Note: The ISSB Selection System assesses the ability of naturalized officers. Coaches on ISSB tests adversely affect the chances of selection and create many discrepancies in personality traits. If a candidate is found trained in a private coaching centre, he/she will be considered ineligible to apply for commission.

Pakistani citizens residing abroad

Candidates residing abroad are not required to participate in the preliminary selection process. However, defense attachés will verify their general suitability, physical impairment, and staggered issues. Candidates should contact Pakistani embassies (Military/Defence Attaché) in their country for applications.

 

Application form along with relevant documents must be submitted to Pakistani Embassies by 15 July 2022. An application form should be enclosed with the postal order. 100/- and a bank draft for Rs. 500/- in the name of Director General Personnel Administration at General Headquarters Rawalpindi.

 

The applications should also indicate the Pakistani addresses of the candidates so that Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB) examinations/interviews and any further correspondence can be sent to these candidates' Pakistani addresses. There will be no allowance for coming or going to Pakistan.

 

Please Note: If the number of selected candidates exceeds the required intake, the remaining candidates will be considered for admission to the next Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Long Course, provided the required requirements are met.
